Project |01 Online Course Library

Online learning is quickly growing and has made a large presence in higher education.  However, elementary, middle, and high school level students are moving toward the digital era as well.  I created this Online Course Module (OCM) as a supplement to the current second grade curriculum.  When used in the classroom, engagement increases, students are exposed to new material in a new way, and students gain tech skills for later in their school.  The OCM is centered around types of animals and classifying those animals for second grade.

Project |02 Elementary Math Library

Teachers are constantly searching, finding, and bookmarking learning resources all over the Internet for student use, use with the existing curriculum, or for personal exploration.  I have created an online website that is accessible by students, parents, and myself that houses several resources that are math based and Common Core aligned.  Having quality resources all in one place makes the website efficient, effective, and easy to navigate for student use.  I am constantly adding to the Elementary Math Library as I find new tools and resources that are beneficial to my students and their learning.

Project |03 Math and Money with iPads

Money is a math concept that is a heavy focus in second grade and also one that many students struggle with.  I created a lesson plan that incorporates the use of a tablet to present and practice different money concepts with the use of technology to create a more meaningful and engaging learning experience.  When I created the lesson plan, I catered it to second grade level expectations, but the lesson plan could be easily adapted to fit other grade levels depending on the level of learners.

Online Learning

This page contains a compilation of artifacts that I have created which best exemplifies how I use various technology tools in developing a technology enhanced curriculum within my classroom.    In the process of creating these artifacts, I have developed a deeper understanding for using technology to enhance curriculum and classroom life, as well as its efficient and effective use toward student success.  The artifacts on this page are all based upon learning of some sort; online learning, student learning, leadership learning, and professional learning.  As a lifelong learner myself, I have recognized the many different types of learning that technology can be apart of for my students, my peers, and myself.

Project |04 21st Century Learning

In this artifact, you will find a lesson plan that I created for a middle school English Language Arts class where students will read and analyze a few different pieces of poetry and then create a presentation using a Web 2.0 tool to present.  The tech feature appeals widely for students and their engagement in the subject matter as well as the delivery, presentation, and creation process.

Project |05 Problem of Practice

A problem within my practice was my grade levels math curriculum.  It had excellent potential, but needed some improvement to increase student output and achievement.  I created a newly renovated math curriculum that included technology implementation, student interactive math notebooks, guided and independent practice, and vocabulary focus.  The new curriculum is being implemented in my classroom. I have outlined my work in each stage of the process.

Project |06 Wicked Problem

Problems in education exist everyday.  Some are long-standing, others are fixed quickly.  Wicked problems are often unsolvable due to the variability of all factors involved.  For these problems, possible solutions are developed to improve these problems.  The problem that my team and I tackled was Re-imagining Online Learning because of the variables and unkowns that play into online learning.  There are several components involved in this artifact that can be found below.

Project |07 Professional Learning Network

An important part of learning is who you learn from.  Since the development of my Professional Learning Network (PLN), I have learned so much and added even more useful resources to my library.  My PLN is comprised of organizations, people, and online media that I gathered information, ideas, and resources from.  In the illustration of my PLN to the left, I developed a concept map using a helpful tech tool called Popplet. Popplet is a tool that can be used by students at most grade levels and teachers in the presentation of content.

Project |08 Professional Blog

While my professional learning has developed greatly since my exposure to all of the components in my Professional Learning Network, I have also been able to contribute a fair share of my own learning resources via blog posts that exhibit all of the work I have completed and created.  My blog is not only an exhibit of coursework, but a place of reflection on my own learning and a true view of my professional learning.
